my wonderful, never- a -witness -husband, would like to know, who thinks there is one true religion, and why?
true, no!
but I believe there is ONE honest group-- agnostics
We are the only ones honest enough to admit we dont know.

as a jw i was brought up to believe the bible was the word of god, didn't contradict itself and could answer all our questions.
i loved the bible and took the words of proverbs 2 literally, where it says if you call out for undestanding and search for it you will find the very knowledge of god.
i studied the bible as jw's recomend, but found that it left me with more questions than answers and this eventually led me out of the "truth," as i discovered many contradictions in both the hebrew and the greek scriptures and instances where the apostle paul even contradicts jesus words.. in the most important event of bible history, (the death of jesus) the gospel writers can't even agree on the sequence of events and who he appeared to first after his resurrection.
it seems of late I have only been able to see the really ugly things in the bible
such as Moses ordering the slaughter of defenseless women and children AFTER the battle had already been won-- numbers 31
Moses ordering parents to have their own children stoned to death if they got out of line- duet 21
YHWH murdering a baby because he loved David too much to make him accountable for his own crime- 2 Sam 12
YHWH throwing a fit of rage and having to be corrected by a human - Exodus 32:13-14
Jesus telling his follower to slay all those who did not want him as their king -luke 19:27

my intent with the title of this thread was to attract both believers and non-believers.
whenever a thread appears promoting the wonders of jesus, it will inevitably develop into a back and forth discussion ad nauseam.. i was born into a family that believed there was a god, he had a son jesus and his word was the bible.
the answer is simple and everyone knows it if they just think about it:
all things ARE as they MUST be.
it is NOW
it is always NOW
and THIS NOW is the result of all nows prior, not one of which can be undone...so this NOW must be as you find it...no one can alter how it got here and how this arrangement of stuff got to be this way.
anyone that blames you for being exactly what you must be, because of your true nature and the nature of all other things being what they must be, is basically insane and rejecting reality by comparison to some ideal fantasy.
so freewill is a religious myth
a judgemental god is insane
and the world is in the mess its in because we are all ignorant and forever shall be such...not because of evil nor good nor any other magical forces...but just the true nature of reality moving according to it own nature which no one could have made as reality is eternal...even if you want to call it god, god did not make itself.
here's a thought guys......prove that jesus existed at all..using anything besides the bible....or the writings of josephus (which have been proven tampered with by the early christian church).

FACTS
1- the first author, Paul, never met anything but what today would be called a desert hallucination.
2-the 2nd author, Mark, worked for Paul... as did Luke, who likely copied alot from Mark.
3. Matthew is of unknown origin and no evidence indicating that it actually came from any real Matthew. same for John, which is seen by Many modern scholars to be a production of the 2nd century church to combat gnostics.
4. there are 14 or so prior similar stories from all over the world, likely known by the merchants of the trade routes. and people such as Paul who learned much from greeks and others.
5. The mystery schools existed at that time and had the habit of making multi-layered stories.
6. all historians that mention Jesus only verify that the STORY of Jesus was well known, which no one doubts
7. the Mormons of today believe in magical gold plates and are willing to die for that belief...proving that one is born every minute and two to take him.
8. lots of other stories about Jesus and his merry men were written and discarded... some were accepted by different groups for various periods... lots of talented authors liked to add back stories to darth vader and luke...er...Jesus.

the book ROGUE messiah shows that people, in modern times easily fall victim to fake messiah's and will often even die for them. ..
how many mormons are willing to die for a book they basically have NO evidence ever existed outside of J Smith's mind?

there is not one bit of evidence that ANY eye witness EVER wrote about Jesus... and all those supposed historians were passing on nothing more than STORIES which the person who told them likely believed...but what evidence is that other than the STORY existed.
people who defend the account of Josephus fail to accept that he also quoted mythical characters like Hercules as real people as well....or so I recall, I could be wrong.
christians have LIED and said there is MORE documentation regarding the reality of Jesus than any other historical figure...but they produce bupkis- nada, zilch.
Julius Caesar has people who believed in him, people who hated him and others write about him while he was alive.
the only person who wrote close to the supposed life of Jesus, Paul and Luke, did not even meet a flesh and blood Jesus and sorry hallucinated messiahs do not count as actual evidence.

JWs are completely illogical about their belief in the ressurection and by all accounts are enslaving themselves to a being who will not bring them back from the dead, but just make a copy of them to enjoy paradise in their place...as there is nothing left of them by their own belief system.
there is nothing to AWAKEN from the dead...no soul to carry anything from original to remade body...
if all you are when its over is data, there is nothing to stop that data from being made into a hundred new bodies and which one will be you?

i have always asked myself, why does the society not agree with the amount of time archeologists say dinosaurs and other species roamed the earth?
they agree the earth has existed for maybe billions of years.
their ignorant adoption of 7000 is based their false assumption that 6000 of human history plus 1000 year reign makes 7000 for the 7th day of creation...which ASSumes that God knew Adam was going to fail before the 7th day began--which the society maintains God did not know ahead of time...if God intended humans to live forever, he would not have made each creative day so short.
